A Lake District Classic Great Gable Tuesday 29th April 2013 A Classic Lake District walk from Honister slate mine to the fabulous Great Gable, taking in Grey Knotts, Brandreth, and Green Gable along the way. Starting the climb to Grey Knotts Tony, taking a breather !! Still Snow on the mountain tops...and it's MAY tomorrow !!!! The first view of Great Gable and from here it looked very high and a long way away. Tony on the 1st summit, Grey Knotts Me on the same summit, don't why he zoomed in !!! The views up here are amazing Summit 2, Breandreth Me, on Brandreth with Great Gable in the background One of the many Tarns up here. Just a great Lake District view Ennerdale makes a distant appearance The Ennerdale Valley To the right of the Ennerdale Valley on the other side of Haystacks is Buttermere and Crummock Water Kirk Fell, we planned to go there today but didn't quite make it Tony on Green Gable, with the daunting prospect of Great Gable to come Me at the same place with Kirk Fell in the background From Green Gable we had to descend into Windy Gap before the big climb to Great Gable And a big climb it is Steep and hard work But the view from the summit is worth it.
