A
true lake District classic starting at Wasdale Head and heading up
Blacksail pass before taking on Looking Stead, Pillar,Scoat Fell , Red Pike and
Yewbarrow. This is a serious 11 mile walk over "big" mountains. And it's Tough, possibly the toughest walk I've ever done. The Wasdale Inn atthe start of the walk - and the end !! The Mosedale Valley Tony E on the climb to the Blak Sail Pass Me at the same place Yebarrow accross Mosedale, That will be our last ascent of the day Tony has conquered "Steeple" On Looking Stead, with Pillar in the background Thr Trig point on Pillar, we didn't hang around long here, it was freezing. Looking back to Pillar on the route to Scoats fell It really was like Mid Winter on this ridge Scoat Fell ahead, but all we could see now was snow and hill fog. Scoat tarn glints in the sun on the way to Red Pike After Red Pike it was Yewbarrow, and straight up that sharp end !! Looking back to Red Pike On the climb to Yewbarrow. Coming down from Yewbarrow Rocky reflections of Wastwater. And the end of a memorable but very exhausting walk. Back to top of page |
